Drafting & CAD Technology
This program includes instruction in basic drafting with the student choosing emphasis in either Architectural or Mechanical drafting. Drafting and CAD Technology offers certificates as well as a diploma in the area of choice. Computer Aided Design is incorporated into both areas of concentration where trainees learn to create accurate and complete drawings using techniques such as red-line drafting.
If trainees choose to emphasize Mechanical drafting in their training, they are introduced to AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks. These software packages are the most commonly used within our service area.
If trainees choose to emphasize Architectural drafting in their training, they are introduced to AutoCAD Architectural, and Revit. These software packages are the most commonly used in the workforce throughout our service area.
Trainees are introduced to different aspects of their training through a curriculum which is annually certified by the American Design & Drafting Association; as well as, the participation of “live” projects. Students are encouraged to actively participate in various fundraisers and community service projects.
